Welcome to the Dix Hills Garden Club
The Dix Hills Garden Club was founded and federated in 1974 to encourage an interest in gardening, and to educate members on the many facets of gardening, horticulture, ecology and the environment.
We began with 9 dedicated gardeners who met in one member's home, and have grown to a membership of
40 people who enjoy sharing our knowledge and love of gardening.
Second District Horticulture Trophy
On October 17th, 2016, our club received the Second District Horticulture Trophy for the highest point total in the Horticulture Division!
Co-Presidents, Nancy Binger and Christine Lagana, were excited and honored to accept the beautiful Silver Trophy, which will remain in our Club's possession the entire year!
We created a display at the Half Hollow Hills Community Library to showcase our Trophy and all of the ribbons. We also highlighted our Club's activities and events.
Our Mission is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening among amateurs, to aid in the protection of native plants and birds, to create floral designs and to encourage civic beautification.
FGCNYS 2016 POETRY WINNER
The Dix Hills Garden Club sponsored three young writers in the 2016 FGCNYS Poetry contest this year. We were proud to have Lynn Pezold, Second District Director, and our DHGC Co-Presidents, Nancy Binger and Christine Lagana, acknowledge Leyla Binger and her Award winning poem at our Fall Into a Garden Fantasy Luncheon Fundraiser. Leyla was well spoken and very composed as she read her poem to the 100+ guests who were in attendance.
Roses Are Special
by Leyla Binger
Roses are pretty
Roses are sometimes red
Roses are scented and sweet
Roses say, “I love you” quietly.
