September Member Meeting—Bernadette Puleo – Japanese Indigo
Bernadette is a Dix Hills resident, who specializes in growing Japanese Indigo plants. She then extracts the dye from the leaves and creates artwork and clothing with the Indigo dye. Indigo garden arts has been her passion for the past 20 years. The members were very impressed as she showed us the process of how to extract the dye from the leaves....just like magic!

April Member Meeting – African Violets, Linda Cozart
Member, Linda Cozart, treated us all to a knowledgeable presentation on how to grow African violets correctly. As a past blue ribbon winner in the African violet Society floral shows, she was able to critique plants that members brought to the meeting. We all learned quite a lot and were "wowed" by Linda's slide presentation of her award winning violets.
Art in Bloom by special invitation to the Dix Hills Garden Club.
Art in Bloom designs were exhibited at the Heckscher Art Museum in Huntington Village on the weekend of April 14 - 16, 2023. Members worked in teams of two, guided by instructions relayed by Vicki Regan and Kathy Kane, who attended Zoom meetings with the museum staff, who gave the instructions to our six designers (Nancy A. Binger & Joan Enright, Marilyn Carroll & Kathy Jokubiel, Nan Gibbons & Kathy Posillico). Our designers were given a piece of artwork by the museum staff, & they had to design a floral piece inspired by the art piece. The museum staff said they never had so many visitors to their Art in Bloom exhibits, now in its 4th year, as they did this April...475 guests viewed the 12 awesome designs! Others clubs who participated were Asharoken Garden Club, South Side Garden Club, and North Suffolk Garden Club. Kudos to all involved...it certainly was a challenge that our members exceeded even their own expectations! Great job, ladies!

Camellia House
Several members attended The Camelia Festival at Planting Field Arboretum on February 18, 2023. What a treat to see camellias in bloom en mass.
